Academic Team

Participating Grades: 6th-8th

Sponsor: Mrs. Lindsey Borcherding

Meetings: Most Mondays from 3:00-4:00pm beginning the end of September

Purpose: Our purpose is to practice ahead of various academic competitions throughout the year.

Band

Participating Grades: 5th-8th

Director: Mrs. Sarah Benito

Mission Statement: Our mission is to inspire excellence, creativity, and a lifelong love of music by providing every student with opportunities to grow as musicians, develop character, and build community through performance.

National Junior Honor Society (NJHS)

Participating Grades: 7th during 4th Quarter and 8th

Sponsor: Ms. Gay La Carmichael

Meetings: Leadership Meets 2 Tuesdays/Month during Lunch/Recess, Office & General Meetings on Tuesdays, Other Service Projects during Lunch/Recess with Schedule Posted on Ms. Carmichael’s Classroom Door

Mission Statement: The purpose of this organization shall be to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, to develop character, and to encourage good citizenship in the students of secondary schools.

Robotics

Participating Grades: 6th-8th

Sponsor: Mrs. Lori Farris

Meetings: Wednesdays from 3:00-5:00pm and Fridays from 3:00pm-TBD

Mission Statement: The mission of Grove Robotics is to transform our culture by creating a world where STEM is celebrated and young people dream of becoming STEM professionals, while gaining the skills, confidence, and resilience to build a better world.

Yearbook

Participating Grades: 7th-8th

Teacher: Mrs. Jenny Carter

Purpose: Our purpose is to capture the spirit, memories, and accomplishments of our school community by creating a yearbook that reflects the voices, creativity, and experiences of every student.

After School Advanced Art Club

Participating Grades: 5th-8th

Sponsor: Mrs. Summer Proffer

Meetings: Twice a month on Tuesdays (see ASAAC calendar) from 3:00-5:00pm beginning the end of September for a total of 16 sessions

Mission Statement: ASAAC exists as an organization to provide art making opportunities for the advanced art students of Grove Middle School currently enrolled in art class and especially those who may not otherwise get such art experience during the regular school day due to schedule conflicts, such as band students.  ASAAC also exists to further the student’s art knowledge and skills by developing new skills and honing old ones. ASAAC is only for students with exceptional drive, diligence, and artistic skill. 

Fee: One time supply fee of $40.00

Application: Students must apply to be in ASAAC each year.

Projects: Projects are pre-selected, but are occasionally subject to change

Harry Potter Book Club

Participating Grades: 5th-8th

Sponsor: Ms. Amanda Kirby

Meetings: Weekly, Thursdays from 3:00-4:00pm

Mission: Our mission is to build community among students and inspire meaningful connections to literature through a shared interest in the world of Harry Potter while engaging in related crafts, readings, activities, and more.

Mission: The mission of the Grove Elementary Gifted and Talented Education Program is to develop and challenge students with exceptional aptitude in one or more academic domains. The district’s Gifted and Talented Program is focused on identifying students in grades 2-8 who demonstrate high potential and providing opportunities that develop cognitive and creative talents in them though site-developed program plans.
