Probation/Restriction List

Each Friday we run an “Eligibility List” on all students in fifth through eighth grade. This list helps to ensure that our student athletes meet our requirements that they are passing all of their classes. It also helps to ensure that all students are meeting Grove’s academic standards. The first week a student’s grade in any subject falls below 60% the student is placed on “Academic Probation.” It is expected that the student will work with the teacher to ensure that the grade deficiency is corrected during the week of probation. If the student is still below 60% in that, or any other subject in the consecutive week then that student is placed on “Academic Restriction.” This means the student is ineligible to participate in extracurricular activities for the week. The student will remain on the list each subsequent week until their average in all subjects is 60% or higher. It is possible for a student to be placed on “probation” one week for having a low average in science and placed on “restriction” the next week for having a low average in math even though the average in science is now above 60%.  The student will remain on the list for the entire week, or until the next list is published. The student is not removed from the list on the date the grade is brought up. If your child is placed on Academic Probation or Academic Restriction, please contact the teacher and discuss what needs to be done to help your child get off the list.
